Sift analysis

Sift is the AI that reads a filing for you, section by section. Sift flags the passages that matter and fades the routine legal text, so the useful content stands out.

How to run Sift

Open a filing and select "Sift" in the top right. Hover over the button with your cursor to see the price for that filing first.

Reading is free, but Sift uses AI, so Sift needs a free account and spends credits. Sift isn't available on filings the company sent as a PDF.

Flags

A flag marks a specific passage and explains why the passage stands out. The color tells you the type:

  • Positive (green): Something that looks good, or better than before.
  • Notable (gold): Something worth knowing that's neither good nor bad on its own.
  • Concern (red): Something that could be a problem and is worth a closer look.

Select a flag in the Sift panel to jump to the exact passage and read Sift's note on why the passage stands out. Select the "Positive", "Notable", or "Concern" chip to turn that color on or off.

Section verdicts

For each section, Sift gives a verdict, "Read", "Skim", or "Skip", and a short plain-English summary. That's what lets you skim a 200-page filing and still land on the few pages that matter.

With "Collapse skips" on, the sections Sift marked "Skip" fold away in the filing. The "Filter" button in the Sift panel lists only the verdicts you want.

Routine text

Filings are full of standard legal wording that shows up in almost every filing and says little. Sift marks this routine text so the parts that actually say something stand out. The "Routine" switch in the Sift panel has three settings:

  • Show: Leaves everything at full strength.
  • Fade: Dims the routine text, which comes back when you hover over it. This is the default.
  • Hide: Collapses the paragraphs that are almost all routine. Tables and lists never collapse.

"Routine sensitivity" (High, Med, or Low) sets how much text counts as routine. Hidden text is one click away, and nothing is ever removed from the filing.

Correct Sift

If Sift missed something, flag the passage yourself. Highlight the passage, select "Flag" in the toolbar that appears, and choose whether the passage is positive, notable, or a concern, the same three types Sift uses. You can mark a passage as routine the same way.

Your flags color the passage in the filing, alongside Sift's, but they don't show in the Sift panel's list or counts.

To change a flag, select "Change this flag" (pencil icon) beside the flagged text. You can choose another type, mark the passage "Not a flag", or go back to Sift's own label. Your corrections are saved for each filing and sync to your account.

Models and cost

Sift can run on three AI models. Choose one under "AI model" in the reading settings:

  • Standard: Fast and a good default. Included on every plan, and the cheapest.
  • Pro: A sharper read, at 10 times the credits. Needs a paid plan.
  • Max: The deepest reasoning, at 30 times the credits. Needs a paid plan.

Sift is priced by the filing's length. On the Standard model, a filing under 2,000 words costs 3 credits, one under 15,000 words costs 6, and a full report costs 10. Only the text counts, not the tables.

You pay once per filing and model. Turning Sift back on is free for a filing you already paid for, including one Sifted by an alert or the MCP server. The button in the Sift panel then reads "Show analysis (free)".

"Re-run" starts a fresh analysis on the model you have selected, so it charges the full price again. Switching models and selecting "Re-run" is how you get another model's read.
