Notes
Notes are private to you and tied to an exact spot in the filing. Use them to write down what you found, or to mark a line you want to come back to.
Write a note
Highlight any text in the filing and select Note from the toolbar that appears. The passage you highlighted is stored with the note, so the note still makes sense on its own later. See Ask AI for the rest of that toolbar.
Notes sync to your account, so they are there when you open the filing on another device. How many you can keep per filing depends on your plan. See Plans and credits.
The notes panel
The Notes button in the top bar opens them beside Sift, in the panel on the right. Notes are listed in the order they appear in the filing.
- Tags: Make a tag with "+ Tag", or as you write a note. Each tag gets its own color, and clicking one filters the list. Tags belong to the filing you made them on.
- Open and Resolved: Resolve a note you are done with. It moves to Resolved and stops showing in the list.
- Select: Select several notes at once, then tag, resolve or delete them together.
- Other filings: The selector at the top of the panel switches the list to your notes on a different filing, so you can read notes from last year's 10-K without closing the one you are in.
Notes in exports
When you export a filing to PDF, you can include your notes as real PDF comments, anchored to the same passages. See Tables and exports.
Note: Notes are yours alone. Nobody else can see them, and they are never used to train anything.
