Full-text search
The search endpoint searches every filing on EDGAR since 2001 for words or a phrase, the same search as global filings search in the reader.
Search
curl "https://api.secsift.com/v1/search?q=%22supply%20chain%22&forms=10-K&companies=AAPL" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SECSIFT_KEY" By default, a search covers the past year. Set from to reach back as far as 2001.
Example answer
The answer for "supply chain" in Apple's 10-Ks, from October 2026:
{
"query": "\"supply chain\"",
"phrase": "supply chain",
"total": 1,
"capped": false,
"page": 0,
"pages": 1,
"forms": [
{
"form": "10-K",
"count": 1
}
],
"unknown_forms": [],
"unknown_places": [],
"unknown_companies": [],
"hint": null,
"data": [
{
"id": "0000320193-25-000079:aapl-20250927.htm",
"cik": 320193,
"company": "Apple Inc.",
"ticker": "AAPL",
"exchange": "NASDAQ",
"form": "10-K",

"secsift": "https://secsift.com/?t=AAPL&a=0000320193-25-000079"

}
]
} Each result in data is one document, so a filing can show up once for its main document and
again for an exhibit. A result shows the company, ticker, CIK, exchange, form, document, industry,
headquarters, public float, period, filing date, and accession number, with a link that opens the filing
on SECSift.
A page holds 100 results, up to 10 pages. total counts the matching documents,
and when capped is true, there are at least that many.
Query
Here's what q takes:
- Words: A document has to hold every word.
- Quotes: Quoted words find that exact phrase.
- OR: In capitals, finds either word, like
activist OR proxy. - NOT: In capitals, or a minus before a word, leaves out documents with that word, like
merger -terminated. - Brackets: Group words, like
(activist OR proxy) board. EDGAR finds nothing for an exact phrase inside brackets, so the API answers 400 instead.
A query needs at least 3 characters, and only its first 200 are searched. Wildcards
aren't supported. EDGAR leaves out a lowercase "or" or "not" as a common word, and hint says
so when a query has one between words.
Leave q out and send forms to list the filings of those forms.
Filters
These parameters narrow the search:
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
forms | Form codes such as 10-K, or a group such as reports or proxies. |
from | The earliest filing date, like 2025-01-01. The default is a year ago, and the earliest
is 2001-01-01. |
to | The latest filing date. The default is today. |
companies | Tickers or CIKs, up to 10 tickers and 250 CIKs. A number counts as a CIK. |
headquarters | A state, a country, or United States, Canada, or Elsewhere. |
variations | Set to true to also find other forms of each word, so restructure finds restructuring too. |
page | Which page of results, from 0 to 9. |
A form, place, or ticker the API doesn't recognize is left out of the search and listed in unknown_forms, unknown_places, or unknown_companies. When no ticker in companies is known and no CIK is given, the search answers 404.
Search allowance
Each search counts as an API call, and searches share the site's search allowance too. That's 600 a day and 24 a minute on Analyst, and 1,500 a day and 36 a minute on Pro.
The same search and page repeated within 10 minutes doesn't count toward the search allowance, up to 96 repeats a minute on Analyst and 144 on Pro. A search past the allowance answers 429.
