Ask AI
Highlight any text in a filing and a small toolbar appears. From there you can ask the AI a question about that passage, save a note, copy a link to that exact spot, or flag it.
The selection toolbar
Select some text and the toolbar pops up next to it, with four actions:
- Ask AI: Ask a question about the passage.
- Note: Save a private note attached to that spot. See Notes.
- Copy link: Copy a link that opens the filing at that exact passage.
- Flag: Mark the passage yourself, in case the AI missed it. See Sift analysis.
Ask AI
Ask AI answers questions about the passage you selected, using the filing as its source. Ask it to explain a term, restate a dense sentence in plain words, or say why a number moved. It reads the section around your selection, so it answers in context instead of guessing.
Asking a question requires an account and spends a few credits, less than a full Sift run. On a paid plan, you can also set up to three custom question buttons of your own, so the questions you ask often are one click away.
Asking about the whole filing
Ask AI answers about the passage you selected. To ask about the entire document instead, use Ask this filing, the chat in the bottom right corner.
Copy link gives you a link that opens the filing at the exact passage you selected. It is the clean way to point someone to one line in a long filing, or to save the spot for yourself.
On a phone: The toolbar works there too. Press and hold to select text, and the same toolbar appears at the bottom.
