Filings and sections
Find a company, list its filings, and read any section of a filing as text. Every path takes the
company as a ticker like AAPL or a CIK like 320193.
Find a company
curl "https://api.secsift.com/v1/companies?q=apple" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SECSIFT_KEY" The search returns up to 8 matches in data, each with its name, ticker, and
CIK, and an empty list when nothing matches. A company with two tickers can show up once for each.
The search also finds a company without a ticker that filed a registration statement in the last year,
like an S-1 before an IPO, with null as its ticker. For any company without a ticker, use
the CIK in the path.
A company's name, ticker, CIK, exchange, and industry come from its own path:
curl "https://api.secsift.com/v1/companies/AAPL" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SECSIFT_KEY" List filings
curl "https://api.secsift.com/v1/companies/AAPL/filings?forms=10-K&limit=1" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SECSIFT_KEY" Filings come newest first. Each has its accession number, form, a tag like 8-K 2.02, its
category, its 8-K items, filing date, period end, and fiscal label, with links to SECSift and EDGAR.

Default list
Without forms or all, the list holds a company's annual and quarterly reports,
earnings releases and the 8-Ks with news like a deal or a leadership change, proxy statements, S-1, S-4,
and F-4 registrations, insider forms, and activist stakes.
The list is a recent window of up to 24 filings of each kind, without amendments. For a busy filer, the window covers about six years and about six annual reports. 8-Ks with news are listed from before the window too, amendments included.
More filings
Two parameters reach past the default list:
- forms: With 10-K, 10-Q, 20-F, or 40-F in
forms, the list reaches back to 2001 for those forms, up to 40 filings of each. - all: Set to
truefor everything the company has filed since 2001, amendments included, up to the newest 1,000 filings past the default list. When the list stops there,cappedis true.
Amendments like a 10-K/A appear only with all=true, and forms counts them under
their form, so forms=10-K&all=true finds both.
Filters
These parameters narrow the list:
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
forms | Form codes, like 10-K,10-Q. |
items | 8-K items, like 2.02 for earnings. An 8-K that reports any of them matches, and other forms drop out. |
category | One or more of annual, quarterly, current, insiders, ownership, proxies, registrations, and other. A 6-K counts as quarterly, and a Form 144 as insiders. |
from | The earliest filing date, like 2025-01-01. |
to | The latest filing date. Both dates count their own day. |
limit | Filings per page, from 1 to 200. The default is 50. |
offset | Where the page starts. Send back next_offset for the next page. |
Read a filing
curl "https://api.secsift.com/v1/companies/AAPL/filings/0000320193-25-000079" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SECSIFT_KEY" The answer has the filing's form, dates, fiscal label, and 8-K items, every section with its id, item number, label, title, and part, and counts of the filing's tables and words.
Example answer
The first three of the 10-K's 27 sections:
{
"company": {
"name": "Apple Inc.",
"ticker": "AAPL",
"cik": 320193
},
"filing": {
"accession": "0000320193-25-000079",

"period_end": "2025-09-27",
"fiscal": "FY2025",
"items": null
},
"sections": [
{

"label": "Part I",
"title": null,
"part": "I"
},
{
"id": "pt-i-item-1",
"item": "1",
"label": "Item 1",
"title": "Business",
"part": "I"
},
{
"id": "pt-i-item-1a",
"item": "1A",
"label": "Item 1A",
"title": "Risk Factors",

"edgar": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000032019325000079/0000320193-25-000079-index.html"
}
} Read a section
curl "https://api.secsift.com/v1/companies/AAPL/filings/0000320193-25-000079/sections/7" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SECSIFT_KEY" Name the section by its id, its item number like 7 or 1A, or words from its
label or title. The id wins, then the item number, then the first section whose label or title holds the
words. Encode a space in the words as %20, like risk%20factors.
A 10-Q numbers its items again in Part II, so 2 finds Part I's Item 2. Use the id for Part
II's Item 2, pt-ii-item-2.
The text comes in text, with the section's full length in chars.
Example answer
The start of Apple's Item 7:

"company": {
"name": "Apple Inc.",
"ticker": "AAPL",
"cik": 320193
},
"filing": {
"accession": "0000320193-25-000079",

"period_end": "2025-09-27",
"fiscal": "FY2025",
"items": null
},
"section": {
"id": "pt-ii-item-7",
"item": "7",
"label": "Item 7",
"title": "Management’s Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results of Operations"
},
"text": "Item 7. Management’s Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results of Operations\n\nThe following discussion should be read in conjunction with the consolidated financial statements and accompanying notes included in Part II, Item 8 of this Form 10-K. …",

} Tables come through as Markdown, up to 500 rows each, and list items start with a dash. Each call
returns up to 50,000 characters, and when a section runs longer, send back next_offset as offset to continue.
A section the filing doesn't have answers 404, with the filing's sections listed in the message.
