Import options

The "Options" tab of the SECSift Excel add-in sets how the "Tables" tab imports tables, from the filings and units to period labels, borders, and colors.

The add-in remembers your choices on this computer. Each table keeps the settings it was imported with, so changing an option never redraws a table you've already imported.

A refresh keeps each table's own settings unless you choose "Update table settings" in the refresh question. Then each table switches to the settings here, and keeps them.

Most settings explain themselves when you hover over their names with your cursor.

Table

These settings choose what each table holds and where the table goes:

  • Import from: "Across filings" (the default) merges the table from up to 20 of the company's reports of the same form, with every period once. "One filing" imports the table as the selected filing prints it.
  • Filings: How many filings "Across filings" merges, from 2 to 20, with 8 by default. Up to 12 costs 1 API call a table, and more than 12 costs 2.
  • Period order: "Oldest first" (the default) runs the period columns left to right in time, "Newest first" runs them the other way, and "As filed" keeps each filing's own order.
  • Show values in: "As filed" (the default), "Thousands", "Millions", or "Billions". Per-share amounts, counts, percentages, and rates stay as filed, and so does a table that doesn't state its units.
  • Period labels: How each period column is named, like "FY2025, Q3 FY2026" (the default) or "2025A, 3Q26A". See the styles below.
  • Place at: "Selected cell" (the default) puts the table at the selected cell, and several tables stack down from there. "New sheet" adds a sheet for each import.

Period labels

"Period labels" names each period column in the style you choose. "FY2025, Q3 FY2026" is the default, and the other styles are "FY25, Q3 FY26", "FY2025A, Q3 FY2026A", "2025A, 3Q26A", "2025, Q3 2026", "FY25, 3Q26", "FY25, Q3'26", "Sep-25", and "Sep 27, 2025".

The "A" marks an actual, the way models mark history. "Sep-25" and "Sep 27, 2025" name each column by the date its period ended, as a real Excel date.

"As filed" keeps the filing's own headers, and "None" leaves the period row out. A column that isn't a period keeps its header in every style.

Layout

These settings choose what goes around and inside the table. Every checkbox starts on except "Striped table rows":

  • Table title: The table's title above the table.
  • Subtitle: A line under the title with the company, the filings, and the units.
  • SECSift links: A "Source" row under the table, with a link to each filing's table on SECSift.
  • Number formats: Numbers formatted the way the filing prints them, with $ where the filing prints one, negatives in parentheses, and a dash for zero. Turned off, numbers come in plain.
  • Decimals: "As filed" (the default), 0, 1, or 2 decimal places for amounts and share counts, with "Number formats" on. Per-share amounts, prices, rates, and percentages keep the filing's decimals.
  • Wrap wide tables: Long line items and period headers wrap, so a wide table fits narrower columns.
  • Striped table rows: Every other row is shaded, which makes wide tables easier to read.
  • Auto borders: A line under the period labels, a line above each subtotal and total, and a double line under each total. Subtotals and totals come in bold.

With "Subtitle" off, the units note moves to the "Source" row. With "Subtitle" and "SECSift links" both off, the table carries no units note.

Style

These settings choose the table's colors and type:

  • Colors: Sets every color at once. "Plain" (the default) keeps the workbook's own colors. "Banker" makes the title navy, gives the period labels a navy band with white text, and makes the numbers blue.
  • Font: "Workbook font" (the default), or Aptos, Aptos Narrow, Calibri, Arial, Arial Narrow, Segoe UI, Cambria, Georgia, or Times New Roman.
  • Font size: "Workbook size" (the default), or 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, or 14 points.

The other two color sets follow how models mark their cells. "Blue numbers" makes only the numbers blue, the way models mark numbers typed in rather than calculated. "Gray fill" shades the numbers gray, the way models set history apart from projections.

Below the font settings, a grid sets the fill and text colors of the title, subtitle, period labels, line items, values, and striped rows. Changing one of those colors switches "Colors" to "Custom".

"Reset Style" puts the font, size, and colors back to their defaults and keeps the layout choices.

Note: These settings apply to tables you add with "Import Table", and SECSIFT formulas don't carry them. "Insert Formula" on the "Tables" tab still writes your "Filings", "Period order", and "Show values in" choices into the formula.
